Scientific work

With an MSc in Engineering in Biotechnology, I have worked on multiple projects during my studies and since graduating.

As a Life Science Consultant at Complyit AB since August 2022, I have gained experience as a Laboratory Engineer at Prostatype Genomics AB. In this role, I have analyzed prostate cancer biopsies, extracted RNA, and ran RT-qPCR to analyze cancer biomarkers. I have also performed quality control of the Prostatype test kit, planned and executed analytical validation studies, and been part of the expansion of the product internationally. I was also involved in product development.

Together with colleagues at Complyit AB, I was a Regulatory Analyst for Wlness Science Ltd - Hormona, where we performed a regulatory analysis of Hormona, a mobile application with self-test strips for women to test their hormone levels. To qualify the product as a wellness rather than a medical device, we formulated an intended use and a guidance report based on EU 2017/745 MDR and EU 2017/746 IVDR for the features and product design.

I completed my studies at the Royal Institute of Technology with a master’s thesis in genetic engineering of an inducible helper vector for the production of Adeno-Associated Viruses (AAV) intended for gene therapy. I designed and cloned vectors, triple-transfecting them into HEK293F cells for gene expression. I cultured mammalian cells and assessed their viability. As a Bachelor’s thesis, my team and I researched One-pot enzymatic cascade reactions for the synthesis of amines and optimization of the enzymes TbADH and ATA-117. I also performed a summer internship studying localized cancer immunotherapy for potent local immune activation. This included performing B-cell assays, culturing cells, and analyzing with flow cytometry.

I am working as a Life Science Consultant at Complyit with great interest in biotech start-ups and advancing human health and sustainability. I have a great passion for innovation and problem-solving, with a creative and design-driven spirit. Scroll down to see the projects I have worked on!

I had the opportunity to do a 6-month traineeship at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. Working closely with the Chief Scientist, I conducted a literature review on ways to encourage scientific innovation at an EU institute. In addition to this, I conducted interviews with scientific experts at the center on ways to improve the scientific output process to reach the public and policymakers better. I also took part in the daily activities at the center, monitoring for diseases during large events such as the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France, and submitted a model coded in R forecasting Acute Respiratory Infections in Europe.

At the Neuroscience department at the Karolinska Institute, during the high point of the COVID-19 pandemic, I performed a research internship studying Tyramide signal amplification-based immunofluorescent staining of mouse brain tissue with serum and CSF from COVID-19 patients to detect possible autoimmunity. I performed microscopy and image processing and analysis. In addition to this, I contributed to the Human Protein Atlas website, version 21, by structuring and updating brain regional landing pages.
